DON’T BE A DEBBIE DOWNER
Think of one person that you know who constantly puts themselves down or says negative things about themselves. You may think of them as Debbie Downers because they say many things that they don’t like about themselves. They may say that they are too fat, not pretty, or that they don’t deserve happiness. They can often ruin the mood, because of their negative outlook.
Would you enjoy being around this kind of person? Maybe you end up telling them how great they are in an attempt to help them see their positive qualities. Maybe you change the subject trying to get them to not be so negative. It can be exhausting to be around someone who is negative about themselves so often.
Don’t let this be you. Don’t be this kind of person. You have control over this and you have worked too hard to improve aspects of your life. This doesn’t mean that you have to see yourself in a beautiful light all of the time. This would be impossible for anyone to uphold unless you are a narcissist. I’m asking you to have a better view of yourself just 50% of the time. It may be difficult at first, but with practice, it does get easier.
